Meet Mary Beth

Founder | Special Education Advocate | Parent & Educator

With over 18 years of experience advocating for students with disabilities, Mary Beth Patton brings both personal insight and professional expertise to her work in special education advocacy and consulting.

Mary Beth’s journey began as a mother navigating the complex world of IEPs, accommodations, and services for her own children. Her oldest daughter lives with cerebral palsy and epilepsy and requires extensive educational supports.  These personal experiences sparked a lifelong commitment to helping other families advocate for their children.

Professionally, Mary Beth has served as a special education teacher for over five years in classrooms supporting students with moderate to severe disabilities. Prior to that, she worked as a paraeducator for more than four years, supporting students with learning and behavioral disorders and moderate to severe disabilities. Her time in both roles has given her a deep understanding of how school systems operate — and how to collaborate with them to get the best outcomes for students.

Now, as the founder of M. Patton Special Education Advocacy and Consulting, Mary Beth empowers families with the tools, knowledge, and support to advocate effectively and confidently. Whether guiding parents through the IEP process or consulting on specific concerns, she is committed to helping each child access the education they deserve.

“My goal is to help families feel supported, informed, and empowered — because every child deserves a team that believes in their potential.”

My Mission

At M. Patton Special Education Advocacy and Consulting, my mission is to empower parents and caregivers with the knowledge, tools, and confidence they need to advocate effectively for their children with disabilities.  I am dedicated to educating families about their rights, guiding them through the special education process, and helping them build lasting partnerships with schools. By fostering a supportive and informed community, I aim to ensure that every child receives the individualized education they deserve — and that every parent feels confident in their role as their child's strongest advocate.
