It’s back-to-school season—and for families of students with IEPs, this time of year can feel more overwhelming than exciting. You’re not just worried about school supplies and new shoes. You’re juggling questions like: “Will the staff follow the IEP?” “Do they know my child’s needs?” “How do I make sure my child gets what they’re entitled to from day one?”You’re not alone. And I want to help you start this school year feeling confident, organized, and ready to advocate.

Here Are 5 Things You Can Do Right Now:

  1. Share a Student Biography Sheet with Teachers and Therapists

       2. Send a Back-to-School Parent Email to Staff

       3. Track Services and Therapies from Day One

      4. Use a Daily Needs Sheet (especially for children who struggle to communicate or young students)

       5. Review Your Child’s IEP for Missed Supports, Goals, or Accommodations

Free Tools to Help You Get Started:
